Seasonal Events in Aruba
Aruba is a melting pot of rich culture and history stemming from a Dutch and Caribbean origin. Aruba holds many events throughout the year that can be enjoyed by locals and tourists alike. An island paradise, there are plenty of marine themed events as well as land based extravaganzas.
Aruba Carnival
From the 5th January to the 3rd March, Aruba celebrates its biggest party of the year. Located in over 5 venues across the island, lavish parades, drink and food are aplenty. The lighting parade is a favourite for all, while the grand carnival parade is the extravaganza on the streets of Oranjestad. The midnight burning of King Momo’s effigy marks the end of the season.
Aruba Flag Day
On March 18th pride flows on the streets of Aruba as Arubans celebrate their flag and anthem day. Independence from the Netherland Antilles was proposed on the day in 1948 and cultural events for families are held throughout the island. A recurrent favourite are the classic car parades on the island streets.
Flip Flop Festival
Bushiri Beach Arena is transformed for one of the Caribbean’s most loved music events. The last weekend of April sees thousands of revellers moving to the beat of local music.
Kings Day Celebration
If anyone has ever been to Holland they will understand the importance of Kings Day. Celebrating the Kings birthday is not only important but highly festive. On April 27th sports competitions, activities and food are organised on the streets of Aruba.
KLM Aruba Marathon
Aruba is a hot climate, yet nothing stops the annual marathon. On June 2 a 5k, 10k, half and full marathon take place along the most beautiful areas of the island. Due to intense heat, the marathon will begin at 3.30am! Medals and refreshments are included for all involved.
Aruba Soul Beach Music Festival
Memorial Day Weekend or May 22-28 is when the Aruba Soul Beach Music Festival comes to life. Voted as one of the top 5 Caribbean festivals by USA Today, John Legend and Ella Mai will perform in 2019 treating visitors and locals alike to world class music.
Aruba International Regatta
August 16 – 18th marks the International Regatta on this sea faring island. Many classes of boat will race while one day is reserved especially for parties, music and entertainment.
Aruba’s 25th Annual Beach Clean Up
In an age where plastics are becoming one of the direst threats to the ocean, Aruba is proud to hold its 25th Annual beach clean up. Volunteers across the island will assemble on Naptali Henriquez Park at 8.30am on one chosen day in September to clean the areas that make Aruba famous.
